THE PIVOT I DIDN’T PLAN, BUT NEEDED
A REINTRODUCTION: HOW MY BUSINESS CHANGED AND WHY IT FINALLY FEELS RIGHT
Hi, I’m Jenny—founder of Jenny Corbett and Co Interiors. If you’ve been following along, you probably already knew that!
At the start of 2024, I launched this business with big dreams, a little fear, and not much of a plan. After leaving my 9–5 job in December of 2023 to pursue a creative path, things took off quickly. Too quickly, if I’m being honest. I found myself wearing more hats than I ever anticipated. Project after project, I was overwhelmed and disconnected from the vision I had—though truthfully, I hadn’t even had time to define that vision yet.
By mid-2024, I was busier than ever, but it didn’t feel right. I had unintentionally recreated the hustle I thought I was leaving behind. So in September, I made the bold decision to pause. I stopped taking on new client work and shifted focus.
What I realized during that pause was this: my heart has always been in residential design. I got a taste of it in 2015 when I worked briefly in high-end residential, but after moving to North Carolina, I pivoted into multifamily design. It became my bread and butter—but toward the end of my time at my last firm, I felt completely disconnected, my focus, energy, and creativity were gone. Just as I did in the middle of 2024 with my own company.
Little did I know that what I was meant to design all along was our own home.
My husband Luke (architect by day, craftsman by weekend) and I have been renovating our 90s blank canvas house room by room. It’s messy, chaotic, deeply fulfilling—and it’s where I feel the most confident and creative. Luke might disagree, only because I’m always changing things. 😄
This pivot wasn’t planned, but it feels right, it has been right in front of me all along. We’re now sharing the full process: the DIYs, the before-and-afters, the budget-friendly finds, antiquing hauls, the wins, the fails (and plenty of bloopers). I’ll be honest—my expertise isn’t in marketing, video editing, or being in front of the camera, so thank you for your patience as I continue to grow in those areas. What I share is vulnerable, but I hope it’s also useful and inspiring.
Jenny Corbett and Co Interiors is no longer just a design service—it’s an open door into our journey. Whether you’re here for product links, ideas for your own home, or just to follow along as we bring our space to life, I’m so glad you’re here.
And yes, I know what you might be thinking: “Wait… is Jenny just a blogger now? A wannabe influencer?” You’re not wrong—and honestly, I never thought I’d say that either. But somehow, I’ve landed this position that’s more manageable, fully flexible, and completely driven by creativity and design. It’s the most “me” thing I’ve ever done.
Thanks for being part of it, I hope you stick around!
Your support over on Instagram is greatly appreciated - like, comment, follow and share (it goes a long way in that world believe me - the more I can grow the more I can share) and really just helps me feel like I’m not talking into the void…
